Ok, here's the deal...
I'm in a 12 team league where we each have four keepers. Standard starting rosters QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, D. As of today my keeper list consists of these to choose from:
Shaun Alexander, Larry Fitzgerald, Chris Chambers, Donald Driver, Jeremy Shockey, Matt Hasslebeck. Not necessarily in that order. I'm shopping Alexander for a back and a few picks as I only have 2 in the first 6 rounds. These are the deals I have on the table...
Alexander & Shockey for Steven Jackson, Antonio Gates & 2nd & 3rd round picks
Alexander for Edgerrin James & late 1ts & 5th round picks
Alexander for Peyton Manning, Jamal Lewis and a 1st round pick
I'd like to get the first deal donebut either way I'm going to try to move either Driver for a 3rd/4th or Fitz for a pair of high picks.
Any opinion would be appreciated. Let me know what you think or would do otherwise. |

My opinion (with the disclaimer, I've never done fantasy sports - but I've watched my cousin play A LOT).
As I see it, really, the quarterback and running back positions are where the points are at - so, seeing that you already have a good quarterback in Hasselbeck, there's no need to trade for Peyton Manning (unless you look at getting him and turning around and trading either him or Hasselbeck for someone else.) Of those three trade options (though I'm not a huge fan of any of them, but I understand you want more picks)- to me, getting James and a 1st round pick looks pretty tempting. Gates would normally be a great pick-up, but I have my doubts with Rivers being a first-year quarterback. I think the ball will go a lot more to LaDanian in the red zone where in the past, Brees would have put it up for grabs for Gates. Plus, you get to keep Shockey. To me, what it really comes down to with these trades are the picks you are getting in return. I think the players will be a wash points wise - but do you want a 1st and 5th or a 2nd and 3rd? In my opinion, that's what you need to decide. _________________ Life Without Sports Isn't Worth Living! |

I don't see why you would want to trade Alexander. He is the thrid best back right now, behind LJ and LT. I would keep Hasselbeck, Alexander, Fitzgerald, and Chambers. I would then go ahead and trade Driver like you planned. You can probably get youself a decent running back and third reciever with those picks. _________________ God created the earth in 6 days.
