anyone seen on ESPN's baseball broadcasts the camera angle that they use when the batter is batting? It's directly centered behind the pitcher versus off-center to the right like it normally is...and it's higher up.
I hate it...it makes the batter smaller and harder to see, and it's just annoying. Anyone here like it?

I totally agree with you!!!!
I hate the camera angle. I bugs the heck out of me. I guess it is because we are used to the other camera angle.
I would rather see big players like we are right in the game, not like we are sitting in the outfield.

yeah its prolly cause were used to the other view...i still wish theyd change it back
it seems to me that a network should make a change like that to atract more viewers, but with 2 ppl here hating it and 2 people here not caring and noone liking it, it seems that its not really doing its job |

Sorry to be the odd one out here, but I'm afraid I prefer it!!
With the new angle, you can at least see the movement on the ball a lot better from directly behing the pitcher's arm, and what the ball is doing when it gets over the plate. I'll bet the umpires don't like it though, because when they call all ball a strike (or vice-versa) it's going to show up any errors they make a lot more. From the side you can never be sure whether it was a good call or not. I guess it looks odd because we are so used to seeing things from slightly off-centre for years. I think this idea of a camera on the catcher's face mask is pretty pointless though.
I thought watching Pedro pitch in Oakland the other week from the new camera angle was pretty amazing. |

The problem with be able to see better is not the fact that it is not true. You will be able to see if the ball crossed the plate or not but you won't be able to see how high, or low, the pitch was.
The other view lets you see the height of the ball but doesn't allow you to see if it crossed the plate or not.
I guess both views have thier downfalls but I like the old view because the players are the same size. |

I prefer the old style because that helps bring out the dive in a good curveball, personally.
New view isn't bad, but the old way is easier on me.
