ESPN released the 100 greatest moments in sports in the past year. Here is the top 10:

1. "Game Called" - Sports reaction to 9/11
2. "Patriot Games" - Patriots win the Super Bowl
3. "Bonds Bursting" - Bonds hits 73
4. "Yankee Killers" - D-Backs win World Series
5. "Tiger, Tiger" - Tiger dominates the PGA tour
6. "Roid Rage" - Caminiti and Canseco create the steroid issue in baseball
7. "Beyond the Limits" - Back-to-back heat related deaths in the NFL and NCAA
8. "Three-Peaters" - The Lakers 3-peat
9. "Sister Slam" - Venus and Serena dominate
10. "Cup Crushers" - America emerges in the World Cup

I think that we can all agree that #1 is obviously 9/11. Anyone who doesn't deserves to be run out of the country.

After that, the World Series should have been #2. Not only was it so important for America after September 11th, but it was one of the best World Series's in the history of the World Series.

My biggest problem with the listing was the retirement of Ripken/Gwynn/Mac fell all the way to #51. We are talking about the best retirement class since the very first one. We are talking about two men who broke 2 unbreakeable records, and another that is one of the top few pure hitters the game has ever seen. Yet this class isnt even good enough to beat the horse ranked #44? Come on.

My personal favorite? Number 100: Bobbleheads

For the list, go to http://www.espn.com keyword 'ESPN 100'.

Bobbleheads!

I thought the baseball retirement class was ok. I thought '94 was pretty good with Ryan and Yount and Brett.
