the supreme court ruled yesterday that the PGA tour must allow golfers with dissabilities to use carts instead of walking an 18-hole course:
PGA Tour vs. Martin

...what do u think? im kinda undecided on this issue, i can argue either way...

Well, basically, this is how I feel:

Its not about Casey Martin. He's a good guy and I'd like to see him play, if he rides the cart, thats fine, I will still think he is a good guy.

But, the fact remains, every human must be considered the same in this case. With that in mind, they are not allowed to use a cart in a PGA Tour event. This should have been upheld for any individual. That is my belief anyway.

i do agree with you for the most part...

i dont play golf, so i dont know what the advantage is to having a cart or not...but if their isnt a significant advantage to it then its kinda hard for me to understand the harm that would be caused by letting a man with a walking disability have a cart, i mean, its not like its his fault that he cant walk well or anything...i dunno...

Well, maybe you should give it a try, two times.

The first time, walk 18 holes. The second time, ride 18 holes. I think you will notice a very big difference. The average PGA Tour stop is probably 7000 yards long. So... they walk at least that. It does have a lot to do with your endurance at times.

yeah, i guess you're right...but im sure that his disability affects his swing, too, so doesnt that kinda level the playing field?

my main concern with this is that the ability to use a cart will oviously be abused...i think its Vijay Singh that said he's gettin older, his back is startin to hurt a bit, maybe he should get a cart

Yeah, it *might* level it. But, we don't know. Thats kinda the problem.

He is able to stand up to swing, but continually walking could cause damage.

bah
then dont play golf
im sorry but there are certain barriers to everything in the world, if you cant play baseball cuz you cant swing, as swinging is part of baseball, walking is part of golf...
if the courses dont allow carts... no carts.. you cant bend the rules for everything, i may be sounding like a bigotish jerk here, but i havent slept in two days and cant keep my mouth shut... lol
