So what do you think of David Wells? First he says Toronto fans 'stink', then he accuses a team mate of faking an injury, then he reckons Bobby Valentine is 'a loser', and now he reckons Cleveland 'sucks'! What is his problem, apart from being a fat has-been who the White Sox must regret ever bringing to Chicago, and now they can't wait to get rid of him. Trouble is, who would want him? There aren't that many top teams left who he hasn't insulted one way or another! Nobody likes the guy (even his own team mates) and you'd have to be pretty desperate to shell out $10,000,000 a year for somebody whose just going to cause trouble in the clubhouse. He now says he'll retire if he can't get somebody to take up his $ option for next year. See ya BIGMOUTH!!!

I used to like him, I don't know.
I was in Boston for a Yanks game when I was like 11. I was at a shopping area and I saw him go by. So I caught up with him and asked him to please sign my hat. While we were walking we went into an area with an elevator and he said he had to go upstiars and do something, but he'd be back. He was carrying a box.
We waited two hours and he never showed, we had to leave time to go to the game.
He could have put the box down and signed my hat or he could have just said he couldn't come back and sorry. I was the ONLY one there, its not like it was a mob.

He had that perfect game or whatever and he wasn't that bad then I guess. Then he just started those rude comments. I'm glad he won't be going to the Mets anytime soon.

I thought Wells wanted to go to New York before the Blue Jays traded him? Though I'm not sure the Mets would want him after the way he spoke about Valentine. He hates Fenway, so at least he won't be going there thank goodness!

Don't ask me... I wouldn't have traded Sirotka to get him in the first place.

| Wells said what he did about Thomas in an attempt to be a team leader. You may not be aware of this (I live in Chicago and listen to this Thomas stuff daily) but Thomas is a HUGE whiner.... he let down his teammates in spring training and has a reputation of being a big baby with the rest of the team. Wells was speaking for all of them when he complained about Thomas. I'm sure in his mind he was trying to get Thomas off his fanny and back to playing some baseaball. The thing is is that this time the boy who cried wolf (Thomas) actually had a wolf situation. I really don't blame Wells. If he is guilty about anything regarding the Thomas situation, its that he didnt wait around long enough to form his own opinion before spouting off others opinions. THAT was a mistake. |
