Okay i really dont know much about this sport but i would like to be informed of it because i like watching it sometimes and it is better than baketball or golf.. could some people give me a introduction to the sport and tell me some of the rules and who the players are., btw my fav team is the St. louis blues and really like Sergie Fedrov when he plays for the Red wings

| Well, for beginners, if an offensive player crosses the blue line before the puck does, that's offsides. If a player puts the puck passed the red line where the goal is from behind center ice, that's icing. I can't really make one gigantic post on all this, so if you have questions, I'll try to answer them. But I'll have to warn you, although I watch the Rangers every time they play, I still am more knowledged in the other three major American sports than I am in hockey. |

A think a good way to get into this sport would be to watch a movie. Slapshot for example is a classic, so is Mystery Alaska. Also, Miracle is coming out next month and looks fabulous. It's about, arguably the best game ever, when the US beat Russia in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Check out the trailer for it: http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/m/miracle.php
