Cone apparently had some pretty good stuff for as long as it lasted last night, and said it felt the best it has for a couple of years, but I still don't think he has it to go more than 4 or 5 innings with that shoulder. You Yankees fans love Cone, so don't pretend you don't. Like Torre said, you want to see him beaten wearing a Red Sox uniform, but you still love the guy so don't fight it. I don't believe he came to Fenway for a better chance of winning a World Series anymore than you do...maybe he just wanted the chance to pitch in front of the best fans in sport for a year or so.

Well that's really, really sad after all that guy gave to NYY, and the pain he went through to try to get himself fit to pitch for you, and it simply shows that you hate the Red Sox more than you love the Yankees, which is even more sad. So you'd feel differently about him if he'd signed for the Devil Rays or the Astros or whoever? I mean I still respect Clemens for all those tremendous years he gave to Boston. A guy has to earn a living; if he can't get a job or the kind of contract he wants with one team, why shouldn't he go somewhere else if they make him an offer? What the hell was Cone supposed to do...turn down the Red Sox offer and sell hot dogs on the Yankee Stadium concessions for the rest of his life just to keep people like you off his back? Sad.

Also, don't get me wrong, Cone is ok. I just don't like him that much anymore.
And another thing... a guy has to make a living? Every baseball player on the field makes more then my entire family (and maybe yours?). So, don't give me that. $500,000 on the defending World Champions for a guy who went 4-14 is well paid.

I agree. Staying on wih the Yankees as a possible 5th starter for $500,000 is a great deal to me.

Great for who? So you would both have done the same would you? The Yankees go to $500,000, the Sox then offer you $1,000,000, and you'd have stayed at the Yankees on half the money? Sure you would. Next time your boss offers you a 50% pay rise providing you work in the next town, tell him "no thanks...I'm happy where I am"!!
Cheers
