From ESPN.com:

Quote:
Miami fired football coach Larry Coker on Friday, a day after the Hurricanes beat No. 18 Boston College 17-14 to salvage a 6-6 season to become eligible to play in a postseason bowl game.

Thoughts?

I don't like coaches getting fired, then having to do a "lame duck" job in a bowl game. That would be like an NFL head coach being fired, but still be asked to coach in the playoffs. What is the motivation for players to listen to the guy?

As far as actually firing Coker, I have no problem with it. Miami players are usually more prone to off field trouble because Miami recruits talent while usually disregarding attitude. These issues are usually overlooked if Miami is winning, but when they go 6-6, odds are heads will roll. Miami needs to dramatically change their football culture. I would like to see them hire someone in the Bill Belliceck mold with a team first attitude. Coker was fired because he was in charge, but Miami needs to recruit different players in my opinion.
