Who would get your vote as the best all-around person in MLB the past few years, maybe not the best player, but the classiest guy around.
Right off the top, I have to at least give credit to Gwynn and Ripken for sticking with one team for 20 years. They could have both made more money in better situations, but they both stayed loyal to their fans, and their team.
Another guy that comes to mind is Tino Martnez. A guy that always plays hard, silently becamae one of the best firstbasemen the Yankees organization ever knew. But, he showed, at least to me, a lot of class they way he dealt with leaving the Yankee organization. When the Yankees decided to go another way, Tino parted the Yankees without animosity and with his head up going to St. Louis.
However, the classiest guy in baseball has to be Sammy Sosa. A fun guy who loves the game of baseball. Even if you hate the Cubs, you have to love Sammy. Brought into the spotlight in 1998 in his race with Mac, he has never had any hard feelings or had any disapointment in being 2nd, and later 3rd, on the single season HR list.
Who do you guys nominate? |
