| I think they're a top 2 or 3 team in the East, but I'm not sure if I'd pick them to go all the way. I guess they're capable, but you also have to realize this team now has the least amount of depth any NBA team has had in years after you get through the big 3. If KG, Ray Allen or Paul Pierce goes down due to injury, they become a below average team. If they all stay healthy, then hey, who knows? |

No. The signings are great, and they will compete, but they won't put it together this year. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

| Thing is, there really isn't much room for improvement with a team like that. If this team can't win next year, they won't win 5 years from now. They're now in a position that as long they go forward with those stars, that's going to be the team they're stuck with. In a salary cap league, the role players might change, but there won't be any adding on until one of those three guys is gone. |

| nope. All they did was get above average for two years. Then they will fall into really really bad range after that. They will hit the lottery it 2010. |

They will still be a fairly weak team because it takes time to build chemistry and if you look at their players than you will see kevin garnett is gettin old as is ray allen and paul pierce. Then they have no depth to help kevin garnett so he can't be as aggressive and rajon rondo is their starting point guard. A point guard leads a team and he can't do it. _________________ Live like their is no tomorrow and one day you will be right |

It is impossible to tell before the season starts how things will unfold even this season, let alone 5 seasons from now. The accepted logic is that barring injury Boston will be very competitive this season and then with some smart front office moves on veterans and young players, complement the roster sufficiently to make a big push for the rings next year.
However, that comes with a huge presupposition that the Boston front office (the same one that brought us such doozies as LaFrent's right knee for Antoine Walker, the Ricky Davis for Wally Szszwerzsdbiak trade and, of course, the Randy Foye for Bassy Telfair draft day debacle) can make some shrewd moves next off season - or maybe before the trading deadline this year. Yes, this summer they seem to have gotten their collective heads of the collective spot where the sun don't shine, but will it last? Who knows?
The bottom line is that a lot will have to fall into place for this team to compete for a title, even in the weak, but improving, East. And with a core of players the youngest of whom is 29, you're not looking at a sure thing. |
