What a game!
38 to 34, Florida State on a long touchdown pass from Chris Rix to P.K. Sam on the Seminoles' last possession.
I think this rivalry is right up there with all the best rivalries in sports like the Red Sox-Yankees, Giants-Dodgers, etc. |

Well the the new BCS standings. This is how my playoffs would be with the seedings
1) Oklahoma* vs 16)N. Texas*
2) USC* vs 15)Southern Miss*
3) LSU* vs 14)Utah*
4) Michigan* vs 13) Boise St.*
5) Ohio St. vs 12) Iowa
6) Texas vs 11) Miami (Ohio)*
7) Georgia vs 10) Miami (Fla)*
Florida St* vs 9) Tenn.
* = Conference winner assuming that Oklahoma, LSU, and Miami of ohio wins their respective conference championship games. _________________ Chris

LSU might not win. Georgia has the home crowd going for them, and that should be a boost. Of course, as aN USC fan, I want Georgia to win . _________________ USC is running for the National Title! Lakers leading West! Rams FIRST in NFC!

LSU, USC, does it really matter? No, this is not an "Oklahoma will kill whoever" post. This is more or less a rant about the BCS, and the "National Championship" in Division 1-A College Football. But then again, I may as well talk about the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, or honest politicians, all of which are on the same level of existence with the "National Championship" in Division 1-A. IOW, none of these things exist.
Imagine, if you will, both USC and LSU losing their final game(admittedly, not likely, but it makes for interesting possibilities). Now Oklahoma will play a team with 2 losses in the Sugar Bowl. Conventional wisdom would place Michigan in the #2 spot. But what about Florida State, Miami FL, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State or Even LSU and USC, who would also have 2 losses. How can you say that any one of those is more or less deserving of the title shot than the others. As we've seen from past experiences, winning your conference or coming out on top in a head to head matchup makes no difference to the BCS.
The bottom line is that certain teams are completely shut out of the "National Championship" before it ever starts, and this is the only place in sports above the high school level where a team can win all of its games and not be champions. |

that is why i post my would be playoffs (if I ran things) 11 conferences 11 automatic bids. with 5 at large bids based on the bcs formula then determine the seedings using the bcs formula. _________________ Chris

Yeah that's what I heard.
No matter what happens in the Big 12 Championship Game tomorrow, Oklahoma will be the BCS Championship Game.
I think that's right too considering how Oklahoma has pretty much destroyed everyone in their path up to this point. |

BCS and the Polls treat everybody who just lost very unfairly. If a team loses, they will be place at the bottom of the list of the teams who now have the same record.
IE: LSU loses. Now they have 2 losses. They will be behind Georgia, OSU, UM, Texas. DO you see what I mean? _________________ USC is running for the National Title! Lakers leading West! Rams FIRST in NFC!

Yeah that's one of the biggest problems I've had with polls, long before the BCS came along.
When you lose is just as important as who you lose to. And that just isn't right. |
