...any predictions? whos gonna win it all? hows your team going to do?

Though Id just love to say Yankees all the way (really, I would ), I dont think its gonna happen. The Mets look strong, an obvious playoff contender and possible WSChamp. The NL East is gonna be fun this year with the Braves and the Mets duking it out, but I think the Mets have the edge. But Im gonna have to say the D-Backs will win the NL.

The AL...hmmm...I like the Mariners. I also like Oakland and *ahem* Texas. Obviously the Yanks will be there in the end. But I think an Arizona - Seattle World Series is in store for us this year.

My team, the Pads, should do better than last year, and maybe, just maybe, if the ball bounces are way (literally, our defense sucks) we could push for a wild card spot.

I feel pretty good about my Yankees.

I mean, if I was managing the team, here is what we come up with for starters:

C Jorge Posada
1B Jason Giambi
2B Alfonso Soriano
3B Robin Ventura
SS Derek Jeter
LF Rondell White
CF Bernie Williams
RF John Vander Wal
DH Nick Johnson

Rotation:
Mike Mussina
Roger Clemens
Andy Pettitte
Orlando Hernandez
David Wells

Bullpen:
Mariano Rivera
Steve Karsay
Ramiro Mendoza
Sterling Hitchcock

The best on paper team in the game - now we have to go out and play.

Well how about my Mets. I think they'll have a good shot..

C Mike Piazza
1B Mo Vaugn
2B Roberto Alomar
3B Edgardo Alfonzo
SS Rey Ordonez
OF Jeremy Burnitz
OF Roger Cedeno
OF Jay Payton

Rotation:
Al Leiter
Pedro Astacio
Shawn Estes
Steve Trachsel
Jeff D'Amico/Bruce Chen

I'd say the team looks pretty good on paper. Only 1 or 2 weak spots offensively and the rotation isn't bad.. An improvement over last year hopefully though.

Yeah, definitely an improvement.

the Yankees are defintely the best on-paper team, except, who's nick johnson?? i sure do admire that pitching staff, though. probably a couple HOFers in there including one of the greats ever in Clemens.

how does the Mets bullpen look? i could be mistaken, but I do not recall their bullpen being very strong.

besides that, another subway series is not entirely out of the question.

The Mets' bullpen has Dave Weathers and Armando Benitez. I'm not too sure on anyone else.. They're not bad but Benitez always blows the big games.

Well, everything looks decent for my ChiSox, but not as well as I'd hoped. We traded away some players that I felt were solid players (Kip Wells, Chris Singleton). And stupid Ken Williams decided to trade away all our pitching prospects, so our pitching is something to be desired. Here's how our lineup should look like:

Projected lineup
2B Ray Durham
3B Jose Valentin / Joe Crede
DH Frank Thomas
RF Magglio Ordonez
1B Paul Konerko
LF Carlos Lee
CF Aaron Rowand / Brian Simmons
C Mark Johnson / Sandy Alomar / Josh Paul
SS Royce Clayton / Jose Valentin

Rotation
Mark Buehrle
Todd Ritchie
Jon Garland
Rocky Biddle
Jim Parque

Closer
Keith Foulke

yep, "decent" would be the way to describe that. not bad, but they should be solid at least. the outfield definitely looks like a weak point, as is (as you mentioned) your rotation. but Frank should be back this year, he should be solid.
