How about Barry Bonds hitting his 29th homer tonight?
He's 8 games ahead of Mark McGwire's 1998 pace right now. Anybody here think he can break Big Mac's record?
He should feast up at Coors Field this weekend. Talk about setting yourself up for a big, fat contract this coming off-season.

I think he has a chance if he stays healthy. But of course that is true with anyone .
I've always liked Barry Bonds and I don't care for McGwire too much so I hope he beats it.
Who knows maybe 80? |

although i can think of at least a dozen sluggers id rather see break it than barry, hes a good guy so i guess i wouldnt mind it
however, i think it would be better if the 70 HR record stood for at least a couple decades before anyone chases it, if there is a race to chase it every year i would think the record would be come less meaningful than it is today |

It seems that every year someone gets off to a hot start and the rumors start flying. He might break this, he might break that. It could happen but I wouldn't bet on it.

70 is asking an awful lot for a guy who's never even hit 50 before, but he can certainly do it if he keeps healthy. He's got 107 games to hit another 41, which is well within his reach. Surely he can't stay this hot all season though? If he does, God help us, because he's actually on pace to hit 85!!

I'd like to see him do it. I don't really like him but it would be cool to see him break it.

It would be quite interesting, but I don't think this torrid pace will go on forever...

theres no way that a pace a third of the way through the season is going to stick all season long...under those circumstances the mariners will win somethin around 130 games...yeah right |
