Well look at here. Just when you thought the Phillies were done.
They've taken the first 3 out of this 4-game series with the Braves at Philly to move within 1/2 a game out of first place in the National League East.

I did!
Well no, but they almost have a chance. In 1973 they were in last in August and went on to the World Series.

They're winning again now... and the Yankees got slaughtered! Who loses to Baltimore anyway?

Wow, how about the Braves rally today? Down to their last strike, they stave off the Mets, at least for now.
If the Mets had won today and completed the 3-game sweep, I might have started to believe in that team of destiny stuff for them but the Braves get a big win today. A win for the Mets today would have put them at 2 1/2 out with 12 to play, instead they're 4 1/2 out. Time is running out. And they have to leapfrog both the Phillies and the Braves. |
