Which illustrates my point that you DO need talent. But, talent without a good coach will not be as successful.

Actually I think that proves my point. As baad as those teams were player wise they were arround .500. We all recall the power blue Braves with Dale Murphy.

Ok got a bit off track.

Can or could have Phill Jackson coached the Bulls with anyother player but MJ leading them to 6 rings. NO. The 2 years MJ quit they were not very good remember. Could we sub MJ off those teams with another good player lets say o Gary Payton. Bulls still don't win IMO. They won becasue MJ was given excelletn support and the second best player in the game at that time Pippen.

Same question with Lakers. Could Phill with with them without Shaq and lets say Robinson. No cause Shaq is just so freakin big you cant match up with him. Everyone remeber Shaq and Penny almost winning it with the Magic. Well Houston beat them pretty good but never the less Penny and Bryant and about the same at that time in his career. Differant is Shaq. played with like MJ the second best player in the game and a great cast of supporting guys.

A blind man in a dark room who spoke Smanish could coach either team to at lest 1 tital.

Well, the thing is, before MJ retired it was:

MJ and Scottie

After he retired it was.

Nobody and Scottie.

They didn't HAVE a leader - that was a problem. If they had had one of the Top 15 or so players in the game, I think they absolutely could have won. As I said, you need talent and coaching because they help each other.

Again that the point. The Coach has to be the leader on the team. MJ was the Bulls leader and the only reason they won.

In addition to a good coach, you need an on the field leader - or a star caliber guy and that is what the Bulls missed.

HOF Coach + HOF Star + HOF Support Man = Winner
HOF Coach + Nothing + HOF Support Man = Loser
Nothing + HOF Star + HOF Support Man = Loser
HOF Coach + HOF Star + Nothing = Loser*

*It is possible that Jackson and Jordan could have won, we'll never know.

That is my point.

Great players make good coaches great

Great coaches make good players great

no one will argue MJ was not great before Phill..... Nor Shaq.

Makes me sick he gets all this talk about being a great coach. Well you give me a team with Jordan and Pippen and I will win. Better yet give me a team with Shaq and Bryant and Ill win some more. Players make coaches.

If players make coaches then how come Shaq and Bryant couldn't win a championship until Phil Jackson came to the team? Yes Phil has come into coaching jobs with great players. But it takes the right coach to make the players play as a team. He was the only guy who could make Shaq and Kobe play together and not try and out-showboat each other. He was also the only guy who could make Dennis Rodman keep his head on when he really needed to. Phil Jackson is one of the greatest coaches around, plain and simple.
