They reported today that Danny Almonte pitcher of the baby bronx bombers little league team is 14 and not 12. What a shame. |

Very sad indeed, for everybody concerned.
I also heard him and his father have been in the country illegally for quite sometime now so they could get deported. And Almonte hasn't been in school the whole time he's been in this country. His father could also face criminal charges for all of this.
And I thought yesterday, that this whole situation was brought to a close and they verified Almonte was only 12 years old. Oh well. |

Also wasn't there something about the coach being banned from little league while in Puerto Rico?

I heard that on a local news station I think. Can anyone verify or deny this?

| Yeah, when you're that age and you know you might be doing something wrong, it's hard enough to not to give in to peer pressure of other kids that age, let alone when it's coming from the grown ups around you, including your parents, who are basically saying, "Just do this and be quiet about it". |

I find it pretty sickening that Almonte's parents would just pimp him (for lack of a better term) for a LLWS placement. This was exploitation - no ifs, ands, or buts about it, and this has likely put a very huge scar on the poor boy's childhood.

I know Danny was in a bad position here and was bein pressured to lie, but i still think for him to go through with it and not say a damn thing, says somethin about him. He shouldnt have let it get as far as it did. And i know thats a lot to ask from a 14 year old, but one: its not like we are askin it from a 12 year old , and two: if a 14 year old could as easily fraud the world in one of the biggest sporting events there is, he could tell the truth once. |
