I don't know about you guys but I was not fan of the tie. I have seen several ideas from HR durby, to letting players renter, to letting postion players pitch and so on.
My view on what happend.
1. The 2 guys last pitching were both starters and could have went at least one more inning.
2. I think the fans would have loved to see Bonds and Sosa pitch a inning. People say remember Canceso with Texas but he tried to really pitch not just lob in balls.
3. It was handeld bad. There should have been a rule in the ground rules that said the game will not go anymore than X number of innings.
4. If baseball goes on strike and I think it will. This event at the all start game could have helped save it. As we talked about the other day. McGwire saved baseball after the last strike. I don't know if Bonds can.
I understand the pitches can't risk their career. However someone said lets the Batting Practice guys throw or bring up a few top AAA pitchers if that ever happens again. I also think all All Star games should have the DH. That way pitches dont have to come out and can stay in longer and are at less risk. |

I agree. Not overwork them, but 2 innings is not bad at all.

I cant disagree more. Very risky situation (injury wise) in a game that doesnt count for anything.

I agree. To the defense of MLB, this is not a situation that ever really crosses the mind when planning this sort of event, so they werent really prepared for it. There will definitely be rule changes next year.
And it angers me when people blame the managers (Torre, Brenly) for this because it wasnt their fault. There main goal from the first inning was to get as many players to play as possible. The game doesnt count for anything and the players take it as an honor to play in this game. Brenly and Torre could easily have conserved players, but think how angry some fans would be then.

I dont understand what you are saying here, what could have saved a strike? I dont think that anything at the all-star game could have changes the labor situation...
...and I hope you are wrong about the strike

The batting practice guys could have thrown. That could have been one logical solution that Bud Selig simply decided not to take. Bud Selig blew a chance to maybe gain back a little bit of respect. But, in true Bud fashion, he mad the fans even more mad at him. And to announce that the game was going to end if they didnt score that inning was just ludacris.
I dont like the DH idea in the NL parks. It is taking a rule that only half of the league uses, and making it mandatory. It's promoting a bad rule, really. _________________ Justin Lieber |

| What I ment on the one comment is that by the game ending as it did it made a lot of fans mad. Thus if they go on strike now I think we loose those fans for good. It could have put a nice taste in the fans mouth for a great All-Star game. Helps ease into the strike. |

On the DH rule.
Its an all start game let the guys bat. The fans want to see the HR not a 0-1 game.
Maybe even do a softball lineup where everyone bats but only 9 play the field. |

Maybe. That is a good point. Its like the game just added fuel to the fire.
Regarding the DH, I really hate the DH rule. It wouldnt be bad in an All-Star game if it was used only in the All-Star game and not in the American League. But since it is used in the AL, I just feel it promotes a bad rule. _________________ Justin Lieber |

| I agree with that I would like to see the DH be done away with myself but it is a nice rule for All Star games I think. |
