Anyone voted yet in the All-Star Game Ballot? I've just registered my vote 'on-line' and would be interested to know how you voted, and what you think of my choices! As usual, there are too many great players who you have to leave out, unless you are one of these guys who votes 25 times, which I'm not! So there is bound to be some argument over whoever we pick. Most guys I picked because I think they deserve to be there on merit, but a few favourite players I picked simply because I think they are great players, even if they are not that hot right now. Personally I don't believe in just picking the guys with the best stats in each position. Anyway, I voted like this:-

AMERICAN LEAGUE
1 Base - Jason Giambi (Oakland)
2 Base - Roberto Alomar (Cleveland)
SS - Alex Rodriguez ( Texas)
3 Base - Troy Glaus (Anaheim)
Catcher - Ivan Rodriguez (Texas)
OF - Manny Ramirez (Boston)
OF - Bernie Williams (New York Yankees)
OF - Carl Everett (Boston)
DH - Edgar Martinez (Seattle)

NATIONAL LEAGUE
1 Base - Jeff Bagwell (Houston)
2 Base - Edgardo Alfonzo (New York Mets)
SS - Rafael Furcal (Atlanta)
3 Base - Chipper Jones (Atlanta)
Catcher - Mike Matheny (St Louis)
OF - Vladimir Guerrero (Montreal)
OF - J.D.Drew (St Louis)
OF - Barry Bonds (San Francisco)

I'm sure there will be some who may not agree with all my choices, but that's why we all get a vote to put a cross by our guys names! Anyone else want to let us see how they voted?

Thats not a bad ballot at all.

Why do they allow you to vote up to 25 times? What the heck is up with that?

I went and registered and voted as:

AL:

1B - Mientkiewicz, Twins
2B - Boone, Mariners
SS - Jeter, Yankees
3B - Brosius, Yankees
C - Posada, Yankees
DH - Justice, Yankees
OF - Cameron, Mariners
OF - Williams, Yankees
OF - Ramirez, Red Sox

Why is Nomar on the ballot? Shouldn't you have to play ONE game?

NL:

1B - McGwire, Cardinals
2B - Castillo, Marlins
SS - Larkin, Reds
3B - Jones, Braves
C - Piazza, Mets
OF - Bonds, Giants
OF - Guerrero, Expos
OF - Sheffield, Dodgers

Well, voting for All-Stars is also a bit of picking favorites.

I agree Patrick...it's totally crazy. The balloting isn't truly representative of anything from what I can see. I've never undestood why they let you vote up to 25 times. Only if we all voted just once would you get a true picture of the most deserving players to go to the AS Game. Some players must be getting to the game simply because relatively few people vote for them, but the ones who do vote for them cast 25 votes for them! For example, in theory you might have 200,000 individual baseball fans all voting for Derek Jeter for AL short stop once, and yet A-Rod gets to go to the game even though he only had 10,000 fans voting for him, but they all voted for him 25 times!!! It's the kind of democracy they have in the Phillipines or Serbia! I wish MLB would explain what's going on here, because it beats the hell out of me.
