I am not sure how hard they tried....they would lose their TV contracts if they did go with a conference.
Besides, the play basketball in the Big 10, don't they? _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to putting all 11 conference-winners in a bracket with 5 "wild-card" teams, teams that are voted in or maybe the next 5-best teams in the BCS standings. That would allow for an independent team like Notre Dame to get in and would create a 4-round playoff system. What that also would do is help out programs in the smaller conferences because it would give recruits incentive to join those teams because all you have to do is win that conference to get into the tournament. To some it would seem like an easy way in and in time the conferences would start to even out as better players are recruited by smaller coference teams.
Honestly I don't watch too much college football, mainly because of the system that's in place now. Something like that would get me more interested. |

I am with all of you but I think that the two real concerns are that,
one it would add too many games increasing the chance for injury,
and two (the real reason) too many schools would miss out on the $'s they receive from making an appearance at a bowl.
I hate to look at the downside of it, as I do believe it would be much more exciting, but over the course of the years if only the top teams in each conference were getting paid eventually the gap in overall conference competitiveness would increase setting the stage for a less entertaining season. Just MHO. |

I don't think it would be adding too many games, because the Divison II and III football conferences already do this.
The real concern is the money. I think that something could be worked out, but I don't think anyone would like the answers, though. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

coz there are way too many teams in my opinion that are just in much of winning a national title..........then just 2
everytime i hear about it, just like about that upset to michigan..............people are already cussing about firing the coach coz he ruined the season......or there chances of doing anything is gone
i think its just stupid that you HAVE to win ALL your games and go a perfect winning season JUST to MAYBE get into the national title game.......and winning every game doesnt garentee even getting you in
i mean look at boise state, they had a perfect record and still didnt get in.........and in my opinion they were just as good as ohio state......so i believe a playoff system would work best. _________________ NHL = Nashville Predators

playoff would be excellent. nobody has doubts about the colts, florida baske, spurs, they earn their championships (at leats completly) everybody comes to play in college football just look at app st.
in a playoff there will be more upsets because everybdy would know that they control their own destiny not computer or coaches! also it would take the presuure off the undeafeated season. in the bcs system people judge team on who they play but not on winning. one more thing pre season rankings needs to be eliminated as well. |
