Even if he is double covered, he is quick, he is the best, he can beat people - the best beat people - and he should have been thrown the ball.

So, Tai Streets is standing uncovered, untouched, noone near him in the endzone, and you throw the ball to Owens, despite the fact that he has 2 people on him already and the safety is cheating his way, simply because he is "the best"? Doubt it.

How many balls did Owens have thrown his way?

The point I am making with that is in these key situations, I feel that you should put the ball in the hands of your best player and let him take you to a win. If the ball wasn't thrown his way say 10 times, then I don't think it was enough.

Well I don't know if he had 10 balls thrown his way but if you think about it, Terrell Owens had 4 catches for 52 yards for the game.

But there was a pass over the middle for a medium gainer that he flat out dropped. And he dropped another pass on an out route down the left sideline. Then there was a play where Owens had beaten McKenzie to the corner of the endzone but Garcia hadn't led him enough so that ended up incomplete. Finally there's also, the pass that Mike McKenzie tipped to Tyrone Williams for an interception. Garcia underthrew that a bit. That was to Owens too.

So, that's 8 balls thrown his way which is pretty close to 10.

Well Jerry Rice is the best wide receiver in the N.F.L. ever and when he was with the Niners' in his prime, the Niners still had other people to throw the ball to. They had Brent Jones, Roger Craig, and John Taylor. And they threw to those guys too and they were successful. So I don't think you force passes into double teams just because he's your best receiver.

And Jeff Garcia doesn't have Brett Favre's arm so he can't really force passes into double teams. And Garcia didn't make the Pro Bowl this year by forcing passes into double teams.

Justin,

Don't be a smart aleck. I didn't say throw to him every time or if someone is "standing uncovered, untouched, noone near him in the endzone."

Spike,

All good points. Everyone drops the ball, the fact he flat out dropped it as you say, I didn't see it, is something I am sure will be on his mind in the offseason.

In regard to the last part of your message, I did not say to throw to him every time.

About the guys you mentioned, the 49ers now don't have a John Taylor or really even a Brent Jones on their team in my opinion. And its arguable if they have a Roger Craig or not.

Anyways, yeah but I didn't say you said to throw to him every time. You mentioned about 10 throws to him and I'm saying he almost got about 10 throws to him so Terrell has no room to complain.

True, but the guys around him aren't that bad now. They're competent. J.J. Stokes, Tai Streets, Garrison Hearst aren't that bad.

And like I said before, Jeff Garcia doesn't have a gun of an arm. He can't force passes into double teams. That's not how he became a Pro Bowl Quarterback. He became a Pro Bowl Quarterback because he makes smart decisions and doesn't force something that isn't there. I bet you if he tries to force the ball more into Owens with a double team than he did, the ball probably gets picked off more than it did and the Packers end up turning this game into a blowout.

Another reason he became a Pro Bowl QB is because he has a guy like Owens to throw to as well as to draw these coverages.
