As much as i like Barry Bonds it's not fair to Hank Aaron because he did it without cheating (steroids) i mean there is no more denying everyone knows he did it, look at a picture of him in 1995, and look at a picture of him now.

Some of it could have been the age but, c'mon he went from making diving catches with 40-50 steals one year and standing around and cranking homers. But once again i do like Barry

As much as I tend to believe he was using something, he hasn't failed a test and even if we find out in the future that he cheated, there is nothing that can be done about it. There wasn't even testing for steroids in baseball until a few years ago. Not really a fan of the guy, but it is what it is.

well like one of my friends said, its the mlb's fault for not checking players for steroid use.............however i do think it is cheating if u used them at ANY time, so im kinda 50/50 on this situation

i wanna congratulate him for passing one of the greats, but on the other side i know what he did and what other people said of what he did

No asteric. If you put one there, you would have to put one next to the incredible season that McGwire and Sosa had as well. You would have to put one next to Palmero's name, too. There really is no point in it. Everyone will make their own assumptions, anyways.

People forget that Gaylord Perry admittingly got into the Hall of Fame for relying on an illegal pitch his whole career and nobody will put an asterisk under any of his accomplishments. It's one of those things where you gotta catch them before they commit the transgression.

No asterisk should be put next to any records. There's no question that Bonds did take steroids and turned double into home runs, but this is steroids era. Like what many people say, Ted Williams once said, "Hitting 90 mph fastball is the hardest thing to do in sports." He was the last player to hit .400, but 90 mph isn't easy to hit. Bonds still have to make contact and able to hit the sweet spot every time he swing. Bonds could see the rotation of 90 mph ball coming to him and read its movement, which is the amazing thing to do in baseball. Even though Bonds got extra 100 feet to his power, he worked so hard for it. If you read Game of Shadows book, Bonds was lifting weights like a crazy man. He is one of the greatest players ever to play the game, so people will make their own judgment. It would be unfair to Bonds if MLB assume that he took steroids and put asterisk next to his name without a solid evidence found.

I like Barry bonds a lot and regardless that he used steriods or not, he broke one of the best records in the MLB.

I tend to agree that there should be no asterisk placed on the record. For the simple fact, Bonds has not been proven guilty. Yes he probably did do them but he is not the only one who did not use steroids to gain an edge. A decent number of pitchers who he faced probably used them as well, including the like of Roger Clemens.

One of my biggest beefs that I have with historians is how do we know what the players in the era before the 1960's did not take anything to help improve their game. Sure maybe it was label as tonic, but I find it hard to believe that no one else in the history of baseball took illegal drugs or ingredients that helped them perform better.

On the note of the baseball, has anyone else seen or heard of this?

The man who won the auction is giving the public three options on what to do with the ball. I am curious to see how it will end.

Ok unfortunately steroids is a big part in sports today but I mean look at A-Rod he has never been convicted of taking steroids and his size and productivity has never changed. If you want to look into barry bonds career you will notice he hit over 75% of his homeruns after he got bigger and people had accused him of steroids. Look at barry bonds earlier in his career he was a base stealer and a singles doubles guy and all of a sudden everything he hit was a homerun. I mean come on its a cheated record.
