| Ok unfortunately steroids is a big part in sports today but I mean look at A-Rod he has never been convicted of taking steroids and his size and productivity has never changed. |
This is not necessarily true. A-Rod is quite a bit bigger now than he was when he came into the league. I am not saying he did take steroids, but I am not saying I am ruling it out, either. There are a lot of players out there that have gotten into HGH. I think that one of the reasons that you don't see players changing size dramatically anymore is because steroids and HGH are available to them before they get to the Majors. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

I don't think there's really anybody you can rule out in today's game. We'll catch a few guys here and there, but there's no way we'll ever find out the name of every player in this era who was using some performance enhancing drug.

Like what many people say, Ted Williams once said, "Hitting 90 mph fastball is the hardest thing to do in sports." He was the last player to hit .400, but 90 mph isn't easy to hit. Bonds still have to make contact and able to hit the sweet spot every time he swing. Bonds could see the rotation of 90 mph ball coming to him and read its movement, which is the amazing thing to do in baseball. Even though Bonds got extra 100 feet to his power, he worked so hard for it. If you read Game of Shadows book, Bonds was lifting weights like a crazy man. . |
This is where I would have to disagree. Yeah, you still have to make contact with the ball, but that's not the issue. Bonds was making contact with the ball when he was a stick figure with the Pirates, but his 200 home runs there did not come in the span of just over three years. Steroids don't help you see the ball, but they will help a guy hit 73 home runs at the age of 36 after never having more than 49, when a normal human being's career would be in decline. Wade Boggs could also look at the seams of the ball and read it's movement, but he doesn't get quite the recognition of Bonds because he most likely didn't juice and hit 5-10 home runs in a good year.
And as for his crazy workout routine, well yeah. Performing enhancing drugs allow you to do that. A normal man's body cannot handle 10 hours of working out per day, especially at that age. Your body needs time to rest. Steroids and other peforming drugs are designed to speed up the muscles' recovery time. To me that's one of the main arguments going AGAINST Bonds as far as steroids go. |

I would have to agree wtih shamedog here. Steroids will make 250 foot fly outs go over the fence, especially when you can hit like Bonds already could.
I recommend everyone read Jose Conseco's book, Juiced. It is a real eye-opener as to the state of the game today.
As for the working out...even if you do take steroids, you still have to work out to get big. Therefore, it makes sense that he has an extreme workout routine. Conseco also mentions in Juiced that steroids will allow the body to stay stronger, and be able to maintain performance levels, despite getting older. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

Ya ok u have a point about the fact that he has gotten bigger but his productivity has never changed and he has always been a serious home run hitter so if you just wanna look and see who has been more consistent for his entire career it is Alex Rodriguez. _________________ Live like their is no tomorrow and one day you will be right |

Of course steroids also effect how you can come back sooner, so less games missed. I think he used them, don't understand why - he was such a great player in his days with Pittsburgh. Oh well.
I just find it funny that he has denied using them when his neck is bulging out. No way a guy gets that big but what Gaylord Perry did wasn't any less of a crime. _________________ Http://www.letsgotigers.com

| I'm new here so I think I will post my first . When It comes to Barry I do think he has cheated but all the same you take a ball coming at you around 80-90 mph and hit it with a little stick that is hard enough so I give him that . I also think a lot of is homers would not have been if not for the steriods. |

I just think that you can't ruin the most treasured record in baseball. Hammerin Hank and the Babe didn't so how could we let barry get away with it and take their record? I like him when he was small he was more entertaining _________________ Colts repeat
