not totally sure if this falls under 'baseball discussion' or 'world discussion' but...
anyone here see it on HBO? i just watched it, thought it was a great movie...get to learn a lot bout maris and mantle chasin ruth's record...if u didnt see it, u have to watch it, im sure itll be re-aired a lot |

| I saw 61*. I thought it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It perfectly showed what both Mantle and Maris went through that season, I have a new respect for Roger Maris and what he did. Every baseball fan should see this movie. |

maybe its common knowledge, but i didnt know maris won MVP the season before he hit 61, that was a surprise to me
and yes, u must gain a greater respect for maris after watching this movie...to learn that even the commish of MLB was rooting against him breaking ruth's record, u begin to understand the lack of respect he actually had during that season, its amazing he even had the courage to continue playing, and as well as he did, despite everything that was goin on |
