a scholarship is getting paid... but not comprable. a full scholarship, with extras, would max out at $20,000 a year. (maybe a lil more from boosters...) an nfl contract is worth millions a year. i am a student on full scholarship, and i can tell you, i am not seeing that kind of money. i also don't have boosters, but ya know.
money does play a role though. the bowl system is the most lucrative aspect of this whole thing. you can't get the same kind of money out of a playoff system that you can out of a bowl system.
