Another year in sports has passed and I was wondering what you guys think is the best of the best (i.e. best game, player, play, etc.). Feel free to add any other categories.

Mine include:

Top Games of the Year
1) Red Sox at Yankees, July 1st, 13 inning instant classic.
2) England versus Portugal, Quarter Final at EURO 2004, shootout thriller.
3) Panthers versus Patriots, Super Bowl XXXVIII, second half shootout, last second A.V. field goal.

Top Plays of the Year
1)

"1-2. He loops that to left field, gonna be a tough play.
Jeter on the run, makes the play, and flies into the stands.
Oh what a play by Derek Jeter!"

- Michael Kay, YES Network.

2) Derek Fisher's last second shot to win game five of the West Final and take a 3-2 series lead over San Antonio.
3) Alexei Kovalev's goal versus the United States at the World Cup of Hockey, dancing between American defenders and putting the puck top shelf, shooting from the red line.

Top Teams of the Year
1) Boston Red Sox.
2) Greece's National Soccer Team.
3) New England Patriots.

Top Athletes of the Year
1) Curt Schilling, pitcher, Boston Red Sox.
2) Peyton Manning, quarterback, Indianapolis Colts.
3) Martin St. Louis, forward, Tampa Bay Lightning.
