Well Miami's going to the Rose Bowl. Close call today. Virginia Tech's Ernest Wilford dropped the 2-pt. conversion that would have tied the game! Yes! Whew. Hehe. I saw the game and I'm just so glad that Grant Noel was one of our best players. He turned the ball over like 5 times by himself.
So who do you guys think should also play in the Rose Bowl? Now I realize my biased hatred for Nebraska is showing here but they lost a game (Colorado) by a whopping 26 points. They don't deserve another chance at this. Tennessee (if they win next week against L.S.U. in the S.E.C. Championship Game) and Oregon deserve more of a chance at the Rose Bowl than the Cornhuskers do. |

I think unfortunately Tennesse is gonna slide in there. I would have loved to see Texas go.
Its funny cause I started out rooting for Colorado in that game, and as soon as Simms "got injured" (That was soooo fake) and the real starting quarterback, Major Applewhite, came in, I was pulling so hard for him.
I wanted to see Applewhite lead his team to victory and then start in the National Title Game to make up for getting screwed out of his starting job. Texas' coach should be fired. If he would have started Applewhite the whole year, they would be the only other undefeated team in the country right now besides Miami and BYU. |

Yeah, I was about to mention that. Mack Brown should be canned. He cost his team a shot at the National Championship.
It's one thing to be stubborn about the whole Chris Simms-Major Applewhite thing but his stubbornness just turned into stupidity as far as he took it. I mean Simms was horrible during all the big games. He was horrible against Oklahoma, Texas' only other loss.
I wonder why Applewhite just didn't transfer. Applewhite's a good leader too. I remember a few years back he lead them to upsets over Nebraska.
It's funny because Simms is the tall, good-looking blonde haired kid with the good arm. He looks like a prototype Quarterback.
And Applewhite is kind of short with a receding hairline. He reminds me of like one of the smallest kids on the playground everyone else overlooks when they pick teams for football and he says, "Let me play! Let me play!". |

Like I said before I don't think Nebraska should be allowed to play for the National Championship. They didn't even win their own conference's championship and now they get to play for the National Championship? That doesn't seem right to me. Colorado or Oregon has more of a right to be in the Rose Bowl than Nebraska in my opinion.
I think we'll beat them though. I'd rather be playing them than Colorado though. Colorado has to be the hottest team in college football right now with their whaling on Nebraska and their getting revenge on Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game. |

| well, if you ever want to see a playoff in college football, you should make sure all of Miami's players get hurt in practice so Nebraska wins that game. You think everything is screwed up now? Wait and see if Nebraska wins that game!! There are several 1 loss teams out there that should be in this game besides Nebraska, and not taking anything away from them - they just don't deserve to be there. Look at Illinois and Maryland. Not to mention Oregon and Colorado, who by the way does NOT belong in the game either, not with a loss to Fresno state. |

But Fresno State's not that bad.
I just think if you can't even win you're own Conference Championship then you shouldn't be able to play for the National Championship. That doesn't make sense to me.
At least when Florida State backed into the National Championship game a few years ago when Kansas State and U.C.L.A. lost they won the A.C.C.
I have no problem with Oregon though. I wouldn't mind if they went instead of Nebraska. |

| I agree Fresno State isn't that bad. They are in fact good, but they lost to Boise State and Hawaii, which throws a BIG monkey wrench into Colorado's strength of schedule, which is one of many reasons they aren't going to the Rose Bowl. Oregon has the biggest gripe. My question is: would a simple rule saying that you have to win your conference to be in the Nat'l Championship game make everything better? I don't really think so. Look at the NFL; you don't have to win your division to go to the playoffs and possibly win the SuperBowl. Same with MLB. |

I don't think so either. I was just bringing that up as an argument as to why Colorado should be in the Rose Bowl.

Yeah that's true. But also if you win your division in the National Football League or Major League Baseball you are also guaranteed a spot in the playoffs and that gives you a chance to win it all.
All this goes back to is the basis of something I think you and I will agree with, rmcollins3, that all this is bull**** until we get at least an 8-team playoff. 16 would be optimal but neither probably won't happen for another 5 years. |

It feels weird having the Rose Bowl on January 3rd this year instead of January 1st. And also it feels weird not having the Big-10 Champion and the Pac-10 Champion play each other in that game.
On the bright side, at least the oldest Bowl of them of them all or as they say, "The Granddaddy of Them All", finally gets the best matchup of them all after all these years. |

| Well, i don't think Nebraska will win, but I hope they do...just to cause more of a headache for the BCSers. College Football is the laughing stock of sports right now and rightfully so. It's a shame too. A playoff of any sort would make it so much better! Oh well, maybe in 2006!!!! Yeah right. |
